The International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) has recently announced its longlist for the 2021. The 16 finalists were selected by an influential jury in the international literary scene including Chawki Bazih, Ali Al-Muqri, Ayesha Sultan, Mohammed Ait Hanna and Safa Jubran.

The longlist includes,

  1. عينان خضراوان – حامد الناظر من السودان
  2. طير الليل – عمارة لخوص من الجزائر
  3. علب الرغبة – عباس بيضون من لبنان
  4. بنت دجلة – محسن الرملي من العراق
  5. فاكهة للغربان – احمد زين من اليمن
  6. نازلة دار الأكابر – أميرة غنيم من تونس

Considered the most prestigious and important literary prize in the Arab world, the IPAF’s mission is to reward excellence in contemporary Arabic creative writing, while also encouraging reading of high quality Arabic literature across an international audience through translation and publication into other major language.

The Prize is also mentored by the Booker Prize Foundation in London and funded by the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi.
