A tale of the times, the people and their heritage, Doors of Al Ain showcases the quaint doors of old villas photographed by Alex Jeffries over three years with the intention of preserving a tiny slice of Al Ain and the oasis city’s culture for posterity.
Al Ain is largely untouched by the oil riches that have changed the landscape of other cities in the region; there are no skyscrapers or ten-lane highways. The tallest buildings across the skyline of Al Ain are the minarets of mosques.
Jeffries tells the tales whispered through the aging Al Ain architecture, and through his photographs, Doors of Al Ain becomes a beautiful time capsule of the oasis city and the UAE’s legacy.
British-born Alex Jeffries is a professional photographer who moved to the Emirates in 1991. With over twenty years of experience in the creative industries, he leverages his background of design and advertising to create stunning and impactful images for a range of global and regional brands.
Alex is greatly respected within the photographic and design communities, and as he spent more time in Al Ain, he fell in love with its calm and elegant beauty. Doors of Al Ain is the result of the passion and fondness that he feels for the city, and an eagerness to capture its culture and heritage.
Some of Alex’s clients include The Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Cultural Understanding, CNN, Cartoon Network Arabic, Carrefour, du, DP World, Dubai Water and Electricity Authority, Sharjah Airport and Arabian Automobiles.
