Wilfred Thesiger: The Life of the Great Explorer

Wilfred Thesiger: The Life of the Great Explorer
AED 165.00

Wilfred Thesiger, the great explorer-adventurer and author of Arabian Sands and The Marsh Arabs, became a legend in his own lifetime, but his character and motivations have remained an intriguing enigma. This authorised biography, written with Thesiger's support before his death in 2003, includes unique access to the rich Thesiger archive, such as vivid, intimate family correspondence, and his own letters, diaries and notebooks. The book recounts Thesiger's family influences, his wartime experiences, his philosophy as a hunter and conservationist, his writing and photography and his friendships with Arabs and Africans among whom he lived.
