Shirley Kay first came to the Middle East in 1965 with her husband, the former British Consul General in Dubai. They came back to live in the UAE from 1985 to 1990, and now make frequent return visits for both work and pleasure. Shirley Kay has studied languages at Cambridge University, Arabic at Shemlan in the Lebanon and Middle Eastern archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology in London. She has authored several books on Middle Eastern countries, and has also made around thirty documentary films of the area for Dubai TV.
