An Indian who has made Dubai her home, Geeta Chhabra shares forty poems in An Indian Ode to the Emirates and dedicates it to the UAE, proving that home is indeed a dynamic term. From iconic landmarks to nature and love, the poet writes on a spectrum of themes drawing on her many experiences in the UAE. Rendered in Arabic by Dr Shihab Ghanem, this bilingual book also features beautiful images to stir the reader's imagination.
Geeta Chhabra has travelled extensively to various countries and these diverse cultures and experiences have helped her express a broader range of themes through her poems. Geeta writes her poems in English and her verses have been translated into Arabic by Dr Shihab Ghanem. Her creative work appears in reputed journals: Dubai Al Thaqafiah, Al Ittihad, Al Bayan, Al Khaleej Cultural Supplement, Al Rafed Magazine, and in Ghanem's book, Likai Tarsom Sawrat Tayer. She was fortunate to have as a guide, mentor and critic, the late Nissim Ezekiel, who encouraged her to write, propelling her poetic expressions.
