Aisha and the Turtle follows the adventures of a young girl, Aisha, and her friend, Um-Sulhufa, a green turtle. This lavishly illustrated book is designed to foster environmental awareness among the young generation and promote efforts to protect the maritime ecosystems in the Middle East region. Although it is a book with a message, it is written in the tradition of an Arabian story, in which fantasy and imagination play major parts, and will therefore delight all readers.
The author, Barbara Steinbauer-Grotsch, holds a PhD in film and literature. She's worked for several international media companies, published a book and various features on film and written numerous scripts for television.
The illustrator, Ines A. Landmesser, is a painter, graphic designer and member of the Emirates Fine Arts Society. She has featured the rich texture of life in the Arab world in her exhibitions for several years.
