Wilfred Thesiger in Africa is a celebration of Sir Wilfred's enduring relationship with the continent, and his fascination with its people and landscapes. The book contains around 200 of Thesiger's beautiful photographs, most of them previously unpublished. The essays in this volume explore and evaluate a lifetime of exploration and travel throughout Africa, as well as, for the first time, Sir Wilfred's photographic archive and its legacy as a museum collection. Wilfred Thesiger is featured in conversation with David Attenborough, and the book includes contributions from explorer Benedict Allen, the curators of the Pitt Rivers Museum and Thesiger’s official biographer, Alexander Maitland.
